Speed up Vista booting time, will ya!!
Messing with MSCONFIG recently (for more previous “kicks“) and found this little gem. Well I do notice that there are some significant improvements in loading Vista (timed it, it was about 5 secound faster :>)….thought I’d share it here.
When you have a computer with a recent model CPU, chances are it’s a dual-core CPU right? Both Intel & AMD have been producing dual core CPU’s for a some times now. However by default, Windows Vista will only use a single core during boot-up (and we don’t know why?!), but you can easily change this from the System Configuration utility:
- In Vista’s Start Search or Run (if Aero disabled) type “msconfig” & hit the [Enter] key on your keyboard.
- Once System Configuration has started, select the Boot tab and click the Advanced Options button.
- In the BOOT Advanced Options dialog, check the “Number of processors” check box, and choose 2 (or 4 if you have quad core ^^;)) for the number of processors.
- Then click [OK] twice.
Now here you go, restart your Vista and notice the different, cheers ![]()
