Take control of your day

Letter_3Our life is like a circus. You can be the ringmaster or you can be the beast. You can manage your day or let your day manage you.

It is basically a matter of discipline.

To take control of your day, you probably have to:

  • Change your thought process. You have more control than you think, but you must take action and negotiate your way through the day.
  • Be more patient. You need to slow down, instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
  • Acquire more discipline. Realize that “There is a time and a place for everything.” Without discipline, you will jump from task to task and wonder at the end of the day, “Where did today go?”

Take these examples of how you can take control of your day:

Train others to be more efficient in making their requests: Even if you have excellent time management skills, your co workers will still make your life difficult because of their poor time management skills. Whether they call, drop by your office, or send emails, they should provide enough specific information to allow you to help most efficiently. Also realize that you are part of the problem. Be more specific in how you communicate with others. Remember: lead by example.

Train others to manage their time, too: Apply the strategies (examples will be given along in my future postings). Remember: when you manage your time better, you are showing those around you how to manage their time better too. It is in your best interests to train the people around you to recognize that there is a time and a place for everything – and it is not necessarily “right here and right now”. It is nice to keep your door open, but it’s smart to control interruptions. Work at deferring the matters with which others interrupt you and scheduling a time and a place for them.

Complete more tasks instead of jumping around: When you get a request, try to fit it in where it works best for you and still works for the requestor, Multitasking may be a necessity, but it is not generally a virtue. In fact, it is often an inefficient way to allow “time” to manage you.

Do one thing at a time, like successful people do: Be a traffic cop. Just as a typical traffic cop stands in an intersection and indicates which vehicles should go and which one should stop, direct the flow of work that comes through your office and across your desk.

Stay tuned for part 4. 8-)

No free lunch in making money online

Money computerSome of you guys emailed me (feedback) on the topic of Blogoship to make money online which I have posted few days back. I’m really shake my head when one of you guys said that what he really wanted was for ME to give him secret tips, do all the work for him, so he could “just sit on his armchair like a pundit collecting checks.”

I was like really!! You really think that someone on this earth is doing that kind of dream job. I would be delighted to seek help from him, if that so. But in my blogoship within my blogosphere, it still not yet happens (or may be I should say it will not happen). Anyone who’s looking for “free money” had better look somewhere else.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but if you think there is anyone alive on this planet that is going to do ALL the work of Making Money Online and then just HAND it over to someone else for a pocketful of coins — then you are living in a dream world. Your very own dream world.

In the REAL world, the fact is, creating a business that makes REAL money involves work, effort, blogoship and some luck of course. So you better have got to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and put some effort into it!

You can’t expect to just sit back and do nothing, and then watch as the sales magically start to flood your bank account! Online businesses don’t work that way.

PS: And anyone who tells you anything else is selling you a pack of LIES. There is no such thing as a free LUNCH, my friend) 8-)

Blogger, change and invigorate your workplace

If you feel the pace at your blogging is a bit sluggish and your are stuck, it might be time to do an “environmental audit.” Put yourself in the shoes of someone—be it a prominent blogger or a potential one—who is encouraging you into your blogging business for the very first time. What do you notice in their working area or office? Are there colors (other than gray or beige) that catch the eye? Is there art on the walls? How about plants or anything from nature? Is there anything to stimulate the senses in their office? I used to remember Darren (problogger.net) do have a bright working area with contemporary theme.

If you want to generate creative ideas for solving your blogging problems such as persistence of production, you need to be surrounded by an environment that helps you think big—and differently. You can’t do that if there is nothing to enliven the senses. A dull environment equals a dull productivity.
