The latest data on browser market share indicates that Mozilla has broken the 20% barrier in worldwide adoption.
Data collected by Net Applications showed Firefox’s November 2008 market share was 20.78 %, with Microsoft’s Internet explorer falling below 70% for the first time. Google’s Chrome browser was used by less than one per cent of the internet population.
Mozilla’s chief executive John Lilly said: “Reaching 20% worldwide market share is a significant milestone for Firefox and Mozilla.”

Cupcake is on its way to our Google G1… An update to the operating system, codenamed ‘Cupcake’ is ready to go according to Engadget. According to reports, the new software will boost the camera (adding video recording), boost the browser, add an on-screen touch keyboard and generally fine-tune the phone, kicking out any early bugs.
However, handset maker HTC has confirmed the updated software will be offered as an over-the-air download, but has yet to divulge a date. Perhaps because that bit is down to T-Mobile. But who knows, you might be starting the new year with a new phone. Well, a much-improved one anyway.
About: the Google G1 phone, it is the flexibility of its open source Android operating system. And if you’ve got a G1, you just might see a few chances for the good in the coming weeks.

I love technology—there’s nothing more exciting than reading about some up-and-coming whiz-bang gadget that could revolutionize the way we play games, listen to music, or use our cell phones. Take my new unlocked G1 phone from Google — it lets me use the phone as a barcode scanner to compare prices everywhere I go. Pretty cool, huh?
So I’m down with high tech, but what if it’s so high tech that the company making it can’t make any money off it? In other words: can technology be a bad thing for business?
But doesn’t technology grease the wheels of capitalism? Don’t all those pixels and megabytes and gigabytes help us move onward toward progress and all things that are good? After all, without some geek off in a lab somewhere pushing the limits of technology, we’d have no TV, no Internet, no Roomba. The geeks are our friends.
